Website Presentation Tips

To make a site accessible to everyone is a web developer’s job, but to make it visible to a very large number of people is the task of the SEO specialist. SEO, by definition, is search engine optimization, and it is the process of improving a website’s visibility on search engine results. To most people, all that really matters is the top 20 results, since wading through the pages can consume a lot of time. But sometimes it takes more than that to attract potential customers, and I’m here to illustrate other factors that can affect internet traffic.

Loading Time. While it’s easy to go and stuff your web page with a lot of information, applications and other goodies, it can also dramatically slow down the performance rate of your computer. When there’s a whole lot going on, your computer takes time to process it, and even the most experienced of techies find this annoying. Keep your site’s loading time to a bare minimum. Of course, you don’t have to sacrifice quality for it, but make sure that your HTML code is not too lengthy, and that there are no unnecessary Flash applications on the page.

Readability. This has to do with font size and face more than anything. The more reader-friendly your text, the better –I guess this pretty much goes without saying.

Summarize what you do at the home page. When people go somewhere for the first time, they want to know exactly where they are before moving forward. This common sense also applies to online surfing, so state what you do on the home page immediately. If you’re selling video games, say so. If you’re reviewing exotic recipes, say so. Readers don’t want to stay more than they need to, so have them on their way if they’re not interested and attract those who want to avail of your services.

While there are a lot of other factors that can affect website traffic, proper website presentation helps a lot in gaining an internet audience. Remember this well. We did.
